KAKIORA Japanese persimmon soap, 3-bar pack

Where to buy persimmon soap in Canada: pharmacies, Walmart, Amazon and direct

Persimmon soap is made with extract of the Japanese persimmon, or kaki, a fruit whose tannins have been used in Japan for centuries. Many people choose it as an everyday soap because of nonenal, the compound linked to the stale, musty smell some people notice on their skin and pillowcases as they get older. In Canada, the easiest place to find it is online. We checked the big pharmacy chains and online shops on 7 October 2026, so you know where to look.

Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, Jean Coutu and London Drugs

When we checked on 7 October 2026, we were not able to use the search on the Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix or Jean Coutu websites, and the London Drugs search page did not load for us. A web search limited to each site, for "persimmon soap" and "savon kaki", turned up ordinary bar soaps, hand soaps, body washes and category pages, but no persimmon soap. That is not a full view of their online catalogues and says nothing about the shelves at your local store, so check their websites or ask in store.

Walmart.ca and Well.ca

On Walmart.ca, a search for "persimmon soap" showed three matching listings, all from third-party Marketplace sellers rather than Walmart itself, next to sponsored ordinary soaps and body washes. The French searches "savon kaki" and "savon au kaki" showed the same three listings. Delivery times and returns depend on each seller, so check both before you order.

On Well.ca, "persimmon soap", "savon kaki" and "savon au kaki" all returned no products, and "persimmon" on its own only brought up unrelated items.

Amazon.ca

Amazon.ca has by far the most choice. A search for "persimmon soap" returned more than 1,000 results, and the first page was almost entirely persimmon soap bars and body washes from many different brands and sellers. Quality varies widely, and some "persimmon" soaps only carry the scent of the fruit. Before you buy:

  • Check the ingredient list for Diospyros Kaki extract (Diospyros kaki is the botanical name of the Japanese persimmon). A persimmon fragrance or colour is not the same thing.
  • Make sure the full ingredient list is shown, ideally with the amount of persimmon extract. Many listings do not say how much is in the bar, so ask the seller before you order.
  • Check who is selling it, the delivery estimate and the returns policy.
  • Be wary of listings that promise to eliminate odour or treat a condition. Soap is a cosmetic: it cleans the skin.

Japanese and Korean grocery stores

If you live near a Japanese or Korean grocery store, it can be worth asking whether they carry persimmon soap. We did not check these stores for this guide, and ranges vary from store to store.

Buying direct

KAKIORA Japanese persimmon soap is a gentle cleansing bar with Japanese persimmon (kaki) extract, coconut-derived cleansers and glycerin. The full ingredient list is on the product page. Used every day, it helps wash away the oily residue that carries the smell. We sell it online through our own website and ship to Canada. Orders ship within 2 working days, and the delivery estimate for your address is shown at checkout. Every order comes with our 60-day money-back promise.

How much should you pay?

On 7 October 2026, the persimmon soap and body wash listings on the first page of Amazon.ca ranged from about C$8 to C$50, for anything from a single bar to a six-pack, so compare the price per bar rather than per pack. KAKIORA prices in Canadian dollars:

  • One-time order: 2 bars C$58.13, 3 bars C$70.92 or 6 bars C$98.83, plus a flat C$5 delivery fee.
  • Subscribe and save 14%: 2 bars C$49.99, 3 bars C$60.99 or 6 bars C$84.99, with free delivery every 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Skip or cancel any time.

One bar lasts about two weeks with daily use, so a 6-bar subscription works out to about C$14.17 a bar and lasts about 12 weeks.

What to do while you wait for delivery

The smell tends to cling to fabric, so wash pillowcases, sheets and shirt collars often, and let bedding air out between washes. Our guide to getting nonenal out of clothes, sheets and pillows covers the full laundry routine.
